Hyperlinks are a great way to connect notes and pages together in a digital planner. It’s not always easy to know how to create them, but I’m going to walk you through how to make them work in GoodNotes 5.
First things first: if you’re using an iPad, be sure to switch from edit mode to read-only mode so that your hyperlinks work properly. Once you’ve done that, you’re ready to use them!
Next, open a page in your digital planner and make sure that you’re writing with the drawing tool (top right corner of the toolbar). This will bring up the new nav bar where you can toggle between write mode and read mode. To switch back to reading mode, simply click the logo at the top of the nav bar that looks like a pen with a little line through it.
Now, on your planner page, you should see a tab where you can place your link text. You can either drag it from the text box and drop it onto a planner page or you can also type the URL into the text box and hit enter.
After typing in the URL, you’ll have a blue line of underlined text that you can select for easier confirming that it’s correct. Once you’re happy with the results, press +Enter to add the link to the note.
You can also add multiple links within a single note. To do this, start a note with a header that you want to link and then add another header within that note for the second link.
Lastly, you can also insert an internal link that will connect to other notes in your planner. You’ll just need to do it the same way as you would for a hyperlinked note.
In the meantime, you can also create a section link in your note by creating a heading and right clicking it. This will give you a link to the specific section in your note, which you can then paste elsewhere in your planner.
What’s the difference between a Linked Backlink and a Candidate Backlink?
Explicit and Candidate Backlinks are the same in GoodNotes as in Google Docs, but they have different settings. Explicit backlinks are regular wiki links pointing to the current note, while candidate backlinks are plain text words that match the name of the current note.
